The construction of the Walkie Talkie building started off at the 20 Fenchurch Street, EC3 designed by Rafael Vinoly. It is said that the construction work of the ground floor will be completed by 2012 and the final completion is expected by 2014. It is said that this 37 storey building has 690,000 sq ft office space with each floor offering 360 degree unrivalled views along with a sky garden.
This building will provide a Grade A office area to a supply constrained central London market of 2014. The construction of this building will generate 3000 jobs till the construction work is finished. Being a joint venture between the Land Securities and Canary Wharf Group plc, these two firms will be responsible for the leasing of the building. The Wharf Group has been appointed as the construction Manager bringing the expertise for the development of this project.
